UGUUU! 03/03/10 – My Penis is Sort of Like a White Supremacist

My voice is super gross in this podcast. I’m almost over being sick, I promise. I just couldn’t stand going any long without podcasting.

News: Rave Master Complete Series on DVD

Holy mother of crap! Okay, so I know that no one likes Rave Master except me, but this is a pretty crazy nonetheless.

A few years ago, Tokyopop tried to release the Rave Master anime. They even managed to get it to run on Cartoon Network. As you may know, it failed miserably. The most notable problem were the edits, which were nearly on par with the 4kids One Piece debacle.

They were also selling the series on DVD, but it did so poorly that the release was halted after the third volume! So in an effort to sell-out their stock, a $20 bundle containing all three volumes was put out. I bought that because I’m a Hiro Mashima fanboy.

Fast forward to 2010 and they’re trying again, expect now it’s the whole damn series for $40! This might be due to the series being aired on SyFy recently, but I really doubt that caused a spike in popularity. It would much more accurate to say that Tokyopop is dying and they know that I’ll buy anything Rave Master.

As far as I know, it’s only available through this link. It sounds like it might be a “press per order” type release, so don’t expect to see this on the shelf at Best Buy anytime soon. Not like you’d buy it anyway.

Does this mean a Reign the Conquer box is coming next? Fingers crossed.

News: Resident Evil 5 Desperate Escape DLC Out Today

A few days ago I said I would try to start reporting on news items, but that I hadn’t seen anything that caught my eye yet. Well, it only makes sense that my first endeavor into nerd journalism be something incredibly bias like, “Hey guys, give Capcom all your money!”

If you’re one of the cool kids, and have an Xbox 360, you can now purchase the Desperate Escape DLC and Costume Packs for Resident Evil 5. PS3 owners will have to wait until tomorrow (Sorry, Chad Warden). The new mission runs for about $5, and the costumes are around $2.

The last mission they released, Lost in Nightmares, was only an hour of gameplay, so I expect the same to be true of Desperate Escape. Frankly, Capcom is the one video game company where I would willingly give them money just because, so the length of the first DLC didn’t bother me. Even Square-Enix doesn’t have the power to make me foam at the mouth at the thought of being allowed to buy the same game twice (I’m looking at you, Super Street Fighter 4).

I’m not sure what the story of the new DLC is, nor do I care. There was also mention that the rest of the characters in Mercenaries Reunion will be unlocked when you purchase the DLC (specifically the costumes, I would imagine).

If you’re a pussy, and you never bought Resident Evil 5 to begin with, you might as well wait until next week when Gold Edition drops. It’s only $50, and will include all of the previously mentioned DLC.
