  1. For the record, I hate Kate too. I'm pretty sure she's a sociopath. She sure meets a lot of the criteria listed at this random site I googled: http://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html, so it must be true.

Also, if you need more reasons for your Katred*, this article has ten of them: http://infinitejesterings.blogspot.com/2009/05/reasons-why-i-hate-kate-austin-of-lost.html

    * I love that someone coined a term for that.

    • While she does have a lot of the qualities of a sociopath, she displays too much emotion. It'd be more accurate to say that she's what Hollywood thinks is a sociopath.

  2. Yeah, I can see that. I probably came up with my "diagnosis" after an episode of House :) Still, she does seem to have trouble empathizing with others. She can't seem to understand why her mom wasn't happy with her actions before arriving on the island or why Sawyer wouldn't be in a good mood to see her at the start of this season. Or to see her last season, for that matter.

    • She seems to pick and choose her moments of conscience. She felt nothing for killing her step dad, but was guilty about stealing Claire's purse. She's been toying with Jack and Sawyer for six seasons, but felt obligated to raise Claire's baby. Hmmmmmm. I'm noticing a trend. Maybe Claire has the magical ability to grant a conscience but only in instances where she's involved.

  3. Kate is a crazy character. I hated her the moment she came onscreen which is a shame because she was originally the lead character when it was still written that Jack would die in the pilot. I mentioned this before but I think the writer's saw Hurley as a footnote because he only had one flashback episode the entire first season and Jack had 4 flashback episodes! Michael, Walt, Jin, Sun and Boone/Shannon have only 1 flashback episode as well! What the hell???
