My worst fear has been realized: Danny Choo is making an anime. Okay, so maybe that isn’t my worst fear, but I would still classify it as a marginal concern. While haven’t never spoken to the man personally, I have been to his website, and based on that—and the character designs the anime—I can safely say this one probably isn’t for me…or anyone for that matter.
The anime will be called Chinka, and it’s going to be about firefighting. If that doesn’t have you excited, then maybe this excerpt of the press release will:
Firefighting action animation! A breathtaking chase involving the two-wheeled firefighting chopper, "Mist Dragon"! Mechanical wonder of Mikoto's "Dragon Breath", a monstrous high pressure pump! A sight-to-see firefighting action with Megumi and Tatsugoro Shinmon! Chinka's clumsy scenes! Chinka is packed with exciting firefighting scenes pivotal to the story, which are true-to-life representations of real firefighting action - a must-see for anime fans and firefighting manias alike. We've obsessed over even the tiniest details, and now this action-packed, humongous project is about to begin!
You may be thinking, "If you think it's going to be dumb, then don't watch the show." That's not the point. I'm worried that this is the beginning of a new generation of anime. It's only a matter of time before the rest of the moe zealots start making shows, and by that time it'll be too late. I'm probably exaggerating a little, but isn't that what the Internet is for? What anime needs is more people like Yasuhiro Yoshiura and Makoto Shinkai. Nevertheless, if you want more information--and dozens of supa kawaii pictures--click on the link below. Looks fine to me. God knows the world needs an anime show about scantily clad moe girls fighting fires and getting all wet. If they could somehow strap airplane engines to their legs and not where any pants then the show would be a guaranteed hit. Thank you DC.
