Animation studio, Satelight is currently working on relaunching the robot basketball anime, Basquash. Their goal is to gain a wider audience this time around, namely children and sports fans. According to ANN, the new series will "focus more on sports action and less on character development." No other details have been release thus far.

This is an interesting announcement considering that many of the jokes in the original series were sexual. If they're going for a younger demographic, I can only assume they'll have to cut most of the female characters from the series altogether--or at least make their breasts smaller. A lot smaller.

The target-audience shift may concern some fans, but it doesn't bother me one bit. The sports action scenes had my heart racing every time ("NICE PASS"), so I'm just happy to get more robot basketball action. On top of that, the series was fucking beautiful, even if it did kind of fall apart in the end.
