Long before CLAMP did those God awful Code Geass character designs, they made something called Chobits. It was a romantic comedy about Crispin Freeman and his robot-girlfriend; think Eve no Jikan, but without all the rules about banging your robot-maid. This was one of my favorite shows in high school, and I believe it was the first manga that Kirran ever read.

Sadly, the DVDs went out of print when Geneon closed up shop. But fear not, fans of good anime--Funimation recently announced that they had saved Chobits and plan to release it on DVD and BluRay in 2011.

They also mentioned something about the licensing all three Eden of the East movies and Spice and Wolf II…I guess. Eden of the East fans will be happy to know that the DVD release of the TV show will retain its original opening song. I haven’t seen Eden of the East so I can’t exactly comment on it, but I heard somewhere that Spice and Wolf II was some kind of alternate world Lord of the Rings fanfic, which sounds kind of cool.

  2. I'll give you that I was trolling about Spice and Wolf, but I actually like Chobit for rizzle.

  3. Yargh. I have the Geneon release of the complete Chobits collection. When I watched it in highschool I originally thought "this is pretty cool" and then years later I came back and discovered I found it rather boring. I will agree that CLAMPs design on Code Gess is awful. I don't really like their designs in the first place, but I guess that's because I'm not the target audience.

I do have high hopes for the Eden of the East movies and TV series. The TV series had a very disappointingly rushed ending, so I was hoping the movies will rectify that.
