It's no secret that I think shows like K-ON! are a waste of time, but companies like Bandai Entertainment seem to think otherwise. They proved this recently when they announced that they had licensed the first season. While I can't deny K-ON!'s current popularity, I will say that this was a terrible move on Bandai's part. K-ON! is one of those shows that is loved to the point of obsession...by people that never buy DVDs.

Furthermore, it's been over a year since the series came out in Japan. By the time it sees an American release, fans will have stopped masturbating to it and moved onto the next big thing. Don't get me wrong, I hope for nothing but success for Bandai Entertainment. However, this is the same company that managed to screw up Gurren Lagann and Haruhi Suzamiya, two titles that should have been a license to print money.

In other news, DMP got the rights to release the Demon City Shinjuku novels.
