News: Producer Hints at Dexter Season Five Plot

While the rest of the Internet is busy complaining about Dance in the Vampire Bund edits, important things are happening elsewhere. Fans of the Showtime series Dexter will happy to know that details regarding the plot of season five were recently announced this past Thursday at the Paley Festival.

When we last left our lovable serial killer, Dexter (Michael C. Hall), he had just come home to find his wife, Rita (Julie Benz), had been murdered by the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow). This scene was especially shocking due to the ironic nature of the crime. Longtime fans of the series will remember that Dexter’s mother was murdered in front of him as a young boy, which now holds true for Dexter’s newborn son, Harrison (some fucking baby actor). After viewing this episode many fans were left wondering, “What can they possibly do next?”

To be fair, very little was revealed. However, this is the first we’ve heard of season five, so it’s pretty damn exciting.

The most important detail that was brought up is in regard to the timeline. Many fans were worried that they would flash-forward and skip over Dexter’s grieving process. Thankfully, this will not be the case. Producer, Sara Colleton states, “Everyone — Dexter and the audience — got a kick in the gut [with] the very last episode. And so, to not have him process that and allow his catharsis and the audience['s catharsis] is a cheat.”

Another concern was that it would be tough find a badder dude than the Trinity Killer. While Colleton did not state anything specific she did appear very confident in assuring that we have nothing to worry about.
