News: Gurren Lagann Parallel Works 2 Promo Video

There isn’t much to say about this other than, “WATCH THIS DAMN VIDEO!

Here’s a list of the music videos and their directors:

Akemi Hayashi “The Sense of Wonder”
Gekidan Inu Curry “Ore no XXX wa Uchū Hitotsu”
Shouko Nishigaki “Sayonara Dai Gurren”
Ayumu Kotake, Shintarou Douge “Big Building”
Satoru Yamaguchi “Kiyal no Magical Time, Sanpun Mae”
Shouji Saeki, Shingo Abe “Gunmen Symphonia”
Sushio “Kitan Zero”

In other news, Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge was just released in America by Well Go USA. This is one of my favorite Japanese movies. It’s based on the novel by Tatsuhiko Takimoto, who also wrote Welcome to the NHK.

News: Gurren Lagann Parallel Works 2 Will Ship in May

I’m not sure how I missed this, but apparently back in January it was announced that a second set of Parallel Works videos were in production. It works out nicely however, because now there’s less time between my discovery of them and their release.

This new set of videos will ship on DVD in Japan on May 26th. The directors have been announced as well, but I don’t see the point in listing them all. With the exception of Shouji Saeki, who directed part of FLCL, they’re all relatively small names. If you really want to know who they are, click on the link below to read ANNs report.

Parallel Works came out in 2008. It was a series of music videos depicting the characters of Gurren Lagann in alternate worlds. For example, one video took place in medieval times where Kamina, Viral, and Simon are rescuing Nia from enslavement at the hand of the Lordgenome. The most notable of the set was the last one, which offered some back-story on Lordgenome and how he rose to power.
